Brad Lukowich scored midway through the opening period, and the Devils turned in a solid defensive effort, on the way to their ninth win in 11 games.

Brodeur, named to his ninth career All-Star Game last week, logged his 88th career shutout in New Jersey's third consecutive victory. He leads the NHL with 28 wins (28-13-3) this season.

It was a mistake-free contest for the Devils, who had no player go to the penalty box. The Rangers, who lost for the third time in four contests, had just four penalties.

Henrik Lundqvist made 31 saves for the Rangers.

The Devils struck 9:42 into the game on Lukowich's second goal of the season. Rangers center Blair Betts failed to clear the puck out of his team's zone. Lukowich got the puck above the left circle and wristed the puck between the pads of Lundqvist.

The Rangers put eight shots on net in the second and nine more in the third, pulling Lundqvist for the extra attacker in the final minute. However, New York got little pressure on Brodeur. Matt Cullen tried a wraparound shot, but Devils defenseman Colin White poke-checked the puck away in the final 30 seconds and New Jersey cleared the disc down the ice as time expired.

Game Notes

The Devils will continue their current three-game homestand Thursday versus Tampa Bay and will close out the stretch Saturday afternoon against Philadelphia before reaching the All-Star break...The Rangers' final game before the break is Saturday at home against Atlanta...Devils coach Claude Julien picked up his 100th career NHL win...With 474 career victories, Brodeur is second on the NHL's all-time wins' list, trailing only Patrick Roy (551)...It was Lukowich's first goal since December 2 against Philadelphia...The Devils went 0-for-4 on the power play...This marked the fifth of eight meetings between the Rangers and Devils this season. In the season series, the Blueshirts have posted a 3-2 record.
