Federer, Roddick highlight Day-3 schedule in Melbourne

01/16/2007 - Melbourne, Australia (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Two-time champion Roger Federer and Andy Roddick will be among the big names seeing second-round action Wednesday at the Australian Open.

The top-seeded/world No. 1 Federer will face veteran Swede Jonas Bjorkman, who was obliterated in straight sets by the mighty Swiss in last year's Wimbledon semifinals.

The reigning Aussie Open champion Federer beat Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis in last year's Melbourne finale and also titled here in 2004. The Basel native is currently riding a 30-match overall winning streak and also holds the Wimbledon, U.S. Open and Tennis Masters Cup titles.

A sixth-seeded Roddick, last year's U.S. Open runner-up to Federer, will encounter Frenchman Marc Gicquel. Roddick defeated Federer in the final at last week's pre-Aussie Open exhibition tournament at Kooyong.

Other top-10 seeds slated for second-round play are No. 7 Spaniard Tommy Robredo and No. 9 Croat Mario Ancic.

Last year's runner-up Baghdatis and former Melbourne champ Marat Safin will also see action here on Day 3. The 11th-seeded Baghdatis will meet dangerous Frenchman Gael Monfils, while a 26th-seeded Safin will battle little-known Israeli Dudi Sela. Safin titled here in 2005 and was the runner-up in 2002 and 2004.

Aside from Roddick, several other Americans will take to the courts at Melbourne Park, as Mardy Fish, Sam Querrey, Vincent Spadea, Zack Fleishman and Amer Delic will all swing away on Wednesday. Delic will face 18th-seeded Frenchman Richard Gasquet, while Spadea will lock horns with 22nd-seeded Slovak Dominik Hrbaty.
