Giants sign Willis to minor league deal

07/15/2010 - San Francisco, CA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The San Francisco Giants have signed left-handed pitcher Dontrelle Willis to a minor league contract.

Willis, who was designated for assignment by the Diamondbacks earlier this month, will report to the team's training facility in Arizona on Monday.

The 28-year-old went just 1-1 with a 6.85 earned run average in six games (five starts) for Arizona after coming over in a deal from the Detroit Tigers on June 1. For the season, Willis is 2-3 with a 5.62 ERA in 15 games (13 starts), walking 56 and only striking out 47 in 65 2/3 innings.

A former 22-game winner with the Florida Marlins, Willis is 71-63 with a 4.12 ERA in eight major-league seasons with three teams.
